When my sister and I were little and not feeling well (and sometimes when we did), we could always count on our step-mom to make us a nest that would make us feel so much better. Pam would put a big blanket in the corner of the couch, we would sit ourselves into the corner w/ anything that we needed to make us feel better - a doll, snacks, books, and a good movie in the TV. And amazingly enough, it worked wonders. We would immediately feel better just being wrapped up in our little corner surrounded by our 'stuff'.
As the last couple of weeks have been a little rough. Hannah has been really sick (for the first time). She has battled a bad cold, then never-ending fever/diarrhea, then ear infection, now we're on to snot nose w/ a side of cough. Unfortunately, I'm experiencing the same thing right now - snuff, snuff, cough, cough!!
So, in remembering something that made me feel better as a child; I pulled out a big sheet (she's too hot for a blanket), put her in the corner of the couch surrounded by Bunny, a snack-trap full of fishies, a sippie w/ water, and put The Little Mermaid on the TV. And as I wrapping her all up with all her stuff - she gave me the sweetest smile. The smile reminded me of how I felt when Pam would tuck me into my nest. It made my heart smile and now know what Pam must have felt as she tucked us in and we smiled at her.
